With that said – I may need to invest in a new screen.

Sadly, this kind of approach was fairly common in Victorian society – the man would state how much wealth, power or otherwise alluring social benefits the woman would receive if they were to be wed during courting. Combined with gifts and attention, this was considered a pretty common attempt at ‘winning’ the girl – or more over, winning the girl’s parents over.

Even with that said – I still want to punch the screen. The man deserves it!
